About this deal

T-Tap Wire Terminals allow you to tap an existing wire with another wire with ONE crimp and no additional connections. Besides, you can attach the second wire with a crimp on insulated male push on the terminal. Pushing it to the protruding end on the T-tap. The best part is that no wire stripping is required; just a simple clip part over the primary wire and close it with a pliers pair. As explained earlier, a t wire connector provides an inexpensive and efficient way of connecting existing wires to new ones without needing to solder them together. Thanks to their intricate design, these connectors can feed an existing wire into a new one, providing a clean-cut end that makes for easy attachment. Copper barrel is an excellent conductor of electricity, corrosion resistant and has a very high melting point. These salient features will generate minimal heat while maintaining a high current flow with minimal voltage drop.

RS PRO T-Tap Wire Splice Connector, Blue, Insulated 18 → 14

T-Tap Wire Terminals allow you to tap an existing wire with another wire with ONE crimp and no additional connections. Whether in wet or dry environments, t-tap wire connectors prove themselves useful in optimizing electrical connections and wire tapping. They operate using displacement technology, with metal tines in each connector slicing through the insulation available in an existing wire and making a connection that can be accessed through a push-on terminal. The AWG rating determines the connector’s size, but keep in mind that you will need to choose a connector with the same AWG rating as the wire with which you intend to use it. Once you find compatible wires and connectors, you’re beyond good to go.

T-Tap Wire Connectors - Wire Tap Connector | SolderStick

I agree with most everything you’ve said but corrosion and oxidation, by definition, are the same thing. You’re confusing corrosion with rusting which can be, but are not always the same thing.

The Problem with Wire-Tap Connectors

So now you have an exposed, oxidized, corroded, and brittle wire clamped in the groove of a little metal piece with sharp edges specifically designed for cutting through the wire insulation. Take this situation and add vibration – the kind of vibration you get from just driving your car or bike – motor vibes and bumpy roads. With these elements in place, all that becomes necessary is the last one at play – time…

Wire Connectors, 12 Pack Low Voltage Electronic T Tap

You will also love the fact that installing a t-tap wire connector is quite straightforward. So, how do you use a t-tap wire connector? The other style commonly used in automotive and motorcycle applications is the T-tap (see pics to right). The T-tap accomplishes the same thing as the inline splice but it only cuts it’s way into one wire, the second wire that is “tapping” into it plugs in via a common spade style connector. If you look at the 2 bottom pictures you can get an idea of what I’m talking about. connections are easily undone if necessary. This is especially useful in situations where changes, additions, or repairs to existing wiring are required. A Good, Informative and accurate article – but… there’s always a situation where it’s impossible to soldier a connection. Simply insert both wires into the splice, squeeze down on the metal insert with pliers, and close the cap.In fact, t-tap wire connectors are known to be self-stripping. There are instances where the use of a crimping tool can be required, but this won’t be to strip the wires or cut them. A crimping tool can ensure an automatic strip, making the connections themselves much easier to use.
