For my testing, I connected the E30 II DAC to my PC via USB. The E30 II was then connected to the L30 II via some custom Arctand RUBI RCA cables. Headphones and IEMs tested included the Hifiman Sundara, Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro (250 OHM), iBasso SR2, Meze ADVAR and FiR Audio 5×5.
The HD600 ended up sounding the way it should, fairly neutral with a slightly early roll-off at the frequency extremes. The amp was able to help the HD600 sound the way it should, creating a truly neutral but natural and immersive listening experience. All those lazy sounding portables like Meze 99 Classics and Sennheiser Momentum 2 started running faster as if someone spook them from behind. It changed them…in a good way, I’m still spotting the naturalness in both, but their laziness is gone forever.The build quality of the device is also very good and feels solid, as we are used to from Topping. The optical and coaxial inputs and the RCA output support are also nice little details.
Aside from aesthetically being a perfect pair, the E30 and L30 were designed to be sonically complementary. While the L30 has a very neutral sonic presentation, the overall sound of the E30 is slightly warm, and rich, with good depth for such a small DAC. With the E30 II, strings are getting a softer bite partly due to the slower feeling sub-bass heft. The soundstage also became a little closer with objects projected with a bigger size than before. The TOPPING L30 Headphone Amp is the companion to the highly reviewed TOPPING E30 DAC. It can be used as an amplifier or a pre-amplifier, comes equipped with NFCA modules like that in TOPPING's flagship A90 Amp, has 3-step gain settings, and is certified Hi-Res Audio. With cleaner power coming into the L30, the first thing that I noticed with the L30 is the distortion-free presentation. I can say that the L30 remained clean, and when I plug in sensitive IEM’s I can’t perceive any noise at all.The amp and dac both look very well built. They are made of aluminium and have a very premium finish. The front is covered in some acrylic glass that looks very modern and exclusive. Impressive overall. I’ve had the E30 for quite a while, and I was impressed with what the little E30 was able to do. When the L30 came out, I was excited to find out if this little amp would be able to impress me as much as the E30 did. And I was not disappointed. All in all, L30 covers our hearing range in full and even more, it simply extends from bottom to top and that is perfect by my standards. Output on the Spark is closer to the Atom than to the other two as it pushes just over 1 Watt into a 50Ω load with two gain options. The HA-3A is a little amplifier in size but it puts out such a great, big and impressive sound. I also love the HA-3A’s design: the tube lay-out, the case work, the glossy finish, the tube cage, etc it’s all very impressive.
And also published elsewhere we are extending the warranty for all of our amplifier line. If this doesn’t show our care for our customers, I don’t know what does. Does it really matter that much if I constantly [sic]replying to comments here? There is no difference separating the two unboxing experiences going forward since the inside has the same layout and accessories as the original. The Spark is most similar to the Heresy in shape but is a bit more stylized with sloped edges rather than simply being a box like the other three. Color is a gunmetal grey only. Topping Electronics & Technology, known as ‘TOPPING’, is based in Guangzhou, China, and was established in 2008. They design some of the best DACs and AMPs when it comes to the price-to-performance ratio. They have a dedicated R&D team of skilled engineers and audiophiles. In addition to that, they are heavily invested in the latest audio testing machinery such as the APx555 from Audio Precision. Of course, all of this means one thing for us consumers, better devices!Changes in the L30 II amplifier are touted as an improved THD+N level, better dynamic range, double the output power, wider gain spread, and increased output voltage. The topping L30 uses amplifier modules found in topping's flagship amplifier, the A90. This amp can easily drive low impedance headphones. Output impedance on headphone out is less than 0.1 Ohm. In preamp mode, output impedance is as low as 20 Ohm.
