I would like a book about Miles and Sh and then a book about Ab and of course the budding romance of the boy in black. Shelby and Miles have a lot to unpack from their past, but very little of that happened in this book. Jorgenson, the town’s mayor, wiped his forehead with his handkerchief before stuffing it back into his suit coat.

Not gonna lie but the fact that he was kinda of her ex-stepbrother made things a bit weird but i loved the way he cared about her and the way his love was truly pure that he didn't force it on her, but that ending oh man! I feel like we should have found out about what happened with the accident and I just feel like it was rushed. How the romance even happened I couldn't tell you because one minute she hated him and the next she has feelings for him. i was initially going to give this book 3 stars and then i thought more about it and i was like why would i do that it was genuinely terrible so i gave it 2 stars.Ready to read the 2nd book now to find out what happens and hope its going to be as good as this one. His warm skin shocked my fingertips, and I blinked and pulled my hand back, cursing myself for doing that. So, I packed my carry-on and flew down from New York to face the past that I’d tried so hard to forget. She loves to take her favorite moments in the books and movies she loves and tries to figure out a way to make them new and fresh. I would give anything to change the circumstance of my childhood and if there's a chance that Miles and Tamara can make it work, I wouldn't forgive myself if I stood in their way.

Going back to Harmony Island, where she had so much history and heartbreak, left her feeling broken all over again until she started to realize that what she was running from was the very thing she needed. Tamara is back in Miles' life and I want to say that it doesn't affect us--that he loves me and that is all that should matter--but every time I see Belle, I see myself. She is a lovely woman and a good friend, but she is a side-character with no major influence on the story.

Then there is the alternating POV that switches between Shelby (MC), Miles (single dad) and Abigail (supposedly new bff of MC) almost every chapter.

All things aside, the fact that this was about a step sister-step brother “falling in love” is weird and gross. The events that caused it were never explained fully and leave you with a sense that they aren’t really all that extreme. I don’t understand why all of the early events in New York had to happen to Shelby as it just seems to be unnecessary. I’d cried so much in the past that it was as if my body was completely incapable of producing tears.And if you're trying to portray Miles as an actual caring single father, the way his relationship with his daughter is written seems like an afterthought. I glanced over at him to see his jaw muscles flex, but his gaze never wavered from the pastor’s face. Growing up, I liked superheroes and YA action novels (and I still do) but full fledged romance novels? i feel like the only thing i know about shelby is that she has feeling for miles but she really doesn’t even know how she actually feels.
