About this deal

Opinions are divided on this book but I really enjoy the odd action thriller and this was definitely that. Together their journey takes them from the frozen wastes of Siberia to the heart of Washington, and finally to the desert sands of Iraq where old grudges are settled, friendships betrayed, secrets revealed and loyalty tested to breaking point.

Former army ranger and private military contractor Cameron Becker escorts a Russian businessman named Luka Belikov through Baghdad when a group of people dressed as Iraqi soldiers ambushes them. Everything you could want in a thriller … excellent storytelling ability … full of dynamic and interesting characters with some seriously cunning bad guys … I would highly recommend! This book does not take a lot of time giving the characters huge and sweeping background stories with lots of emotional baggage that they have to work through. Although this 600-page novel was not at all my in my preferred genre, I enjoyed it for the quality writing.

Each side is prepared to sacrifice everything to get what they want, and in the burning heat of the Afghan summer, the truth will at last come out. It sort of explains a little, Dark Harvest is a very "movie" book, by which I mean the story is very action-packed, stylized, and lacking any sort of literary depth. This might put people off at first, but what if the film were improved, brought down a notch and had its narrative carefully crafted? With many major publications singing Jordan’s praises, most are drawn towards his sense of suspense. It feels like instead of a story outline the next trope from TVtropes was selected and a scene built around this. Lori are convinced that answers to their questions would lie deep within the Ural Mountains at the Dyatlov Pass. Backed into a corner, Drake turns to the deadly but unpredictable Anya – once Cain’s most promising agent, now his most bitter enemy. Will Jordan’s fast-paced but fleshed out writing perfectly encapsulates the chaotic mood of the story as the twists and turns keep coming at a machine-gun pace, never faltering from the bullseye aim of keeping you on the edge of your seat.
