This year I was introduced to the world of air dry clay and needless to say I am hooked. Look how charming this Valentine's garland turned out. It has farmhouse, cottage, vintage, modern and minimalist written all over it. Next, I sewed the hearts with the correct side facing each other. Sewing almost all the way around, I then pulled the fabric right side out and then stuffed with my cottan batting. You can sew the opening by hand, however, I just ran my sewing machine across the opening, to close it off. Step 3 – Braid the Twine & Attach HeartsWhat do you think of making a bunch of velvet-covered hearts, maybe in the two colors pictured in the supply photo, and placing them in a big white ironstone bowl? Hmmmm… I think I may need to make another Hobby Lobby run! And guess what! Unlike my Designer-Style Velvet Pumpkins and my Velvet Easter Eggs , these velvet hearts are a completely NO-SEW project! Due to the fact that I make blankets, I always have a ton of fabric in my house. If you don’t have fabric on hand, might I suggest, asking your family and friends if they have fabric or ribbon scraps on hand. You can also hit the fabric leftover bins at your local craft store. Also, the dollar store is a great resource for holiday ribbon. While your glue gun is heating, cut your velvet into 6.5″ x 7″ rectangles. For my garland, I did five hearts.

This garland was easy and fun to make and the supplies are minimal. If you craft, you probably have many of the products at your disposal. Shoot” some glue on the middle of the heart and bring the top corner of the fabric down on the glue. Make a DIY pom-pom heart Valentine's day garland for your holiday decor. Doily Heart Valentine Garland To hang the velvet hearts from the wood bead garland, add some ribbon to the top of the hearts. (Man, I guess this *isn’t* completely no-sew!) Do you use garland in your home? I love a good garland! I currently have no mantel in my home but I can always find use for a pretty garland. Today, I am going to show you how to make an easy Valentine’s garland.

Table of Contents

Chain 45, in top of heart sc, chain 6, sc in top of the other side of the heart, chain 12, sc in top of heart, chain 6, sc in top of other side of the heart, chain 12. Repeat until all hearts are joined, chain 45 fasten off. For this project, I cut all my fabrics and ribbon first, so they were ready to go. I cut them in various lengths, too. You don’t want everything to be the same length. Cut the strips about 1/2 – 3/4 inches wide. Anything wider than that will be hard to wrap around knot and tie onto the twine. I wanted something else besides my handmade hearts and ribbon to adhere to the twine. On the recommendation of my good friend, I went to the dollar store and grabbed some small grapevine hearts. They were the perfect addition. Now comes the fun part! Grab all those strips of fabric and ribbon you cut in the beginning. Gather up 6-8 pieces and tie in between each heart.

Cut a long piece of yarn for hanging the hearts. For a little extra detail, cut an extra length of string and twist the two pieces together.By the way, I didn’t measure the spacing percisely, however, you can if you want to. With the length I had it was easy to eyeball them. Step 5 – Add the Ribbon & Display Instead of pom-poms, we’re putting a different farmhouse twist on it and using painted wooden beads Be sure to leave about 1 foot of string on each end so that you have plenty of space to tie the garland to whatever you’re tying it to.

Last week my family spent the night together making this fun Valentine Garland. It’s a simple idea that probably won’t be featured in a home decor magazine, but it suremade for a sweet family night! We made memories with the people we love while talking about all the things we love. It was so much fun, I think this will be our new Valentine tradition! Using the glue where necessary, stretch and fold the velvet around the heart. Where needed, add glue and ‘anchor’ the velvet. Remember this doesn’t need to be perfect. While looking for Valentine's day garland ideas we came across so many beautiful designs. Valentine garlands can come in different textures, lengths, colors, hearts, tassels, pom-poms, and so on. Here’s a wood bead garland “pro-tip”: using the Beadalon beading needles is amazing! The large needle ‘eye’ is so simple to thread and the needle goes through just about any size bead. I used twine for the base of my garland. Make sure to measure where you are going to use it and add about 8-12″ to each end. That way you’ll have a tassel that hangs of each side.
