About this deal

But it’s more than just chart-toppers; there’s some great selections here such as both of ABBA’s last two singles (‘Under Attack’ and ‘The Day Before You Came’) neither of which appeared on their last studio album, The Visitors as well as early work from bands like Duran Duran (‘Hungry Like The Wolf’), Spandau Ballet (‘Instinction’), Tears For Fears (‘Mad World’) and Culture Club (‘Do You Really Want To Hurt Me’). Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. saw a huge chart presence for dance music – from the hi-NRG of Boys Town Gang, to the electro-infused beats of Malcolm McLaren, and Rockers Revenge, the 1980’s disco of Shalamar, alongside soul classics from Marvin Gaye and Donna Summer… plus stellar ballads from Elton John, Lionel Richie, and Roxy Music.

This album is kind of fantastic all the way through - only thing i noticed lacking was the horrible edited down and strangely tinny version of " The Damned Dont Cry" which is a song i really like and am very familiar with, I wonder what the source was because as soon as the next song kicks in you can really tell how bad a mix they have used. Available on 3LP Yellow vinyl, a Special Edition CD / 4CD Hard-back book’ packaging, including a booklet with a summary of the year, a track-by-track guide, a quiz, and original singles artwork and standard 4CD set. Loved the tracks - since this is a year-specific CD you don't get a lot of the tracks on general 1980s Now compilations. As a brief sidebar, I can tell you that the contest was held in Harrogate in the UK, in 1982, and 12-year-old me lived there and so I went down to the International Conference Centre and saw the acts arrive! Fame’ was the TV phenomenon of the year, and Irene Cara’s theme from the original 1980 film enjoyed massive success. and Tears For Fears, as well as an incredible line-up from artists who had established their chart presence in the prior 18 months and would produce some of the greatest tracks of the decade; Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, ABC, Haircut 100, Soft Cell, The Human League, and a newly solo Adam Ant. e. NOW 1) which makes this set rather interesting and while, of course, the material is full of big pop hits, it inevitably feels a bit ‘fresher’ than the perhaps over-compiled 84/85 era. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).

Classic Rock from Motörhead and Judas Priest, Soulful Disco from Diana Ross and Donna Summer, and a perennial Christmas favourite from Jona Lewie are all featured. The full track listings are below, but in true 80s pop fashion there’s an eclectic mix of styles and genres with dance, disco, soul, pop, post-punk and even – deep breath – two entries from the year’s Eurovision Song Contest (including Nicole’s number one ‘A Little Peace’).
