About this deal

This book was a phenomenal read! It was fast-paced, emotional, and kept me guessing all the way to the end. Hosmer creates believable characters in relatable situations. She carefully guides the reader through a labyrinth of clues, characters and chaos, and gives the reader plenty of chances to cheer, cry, laugh, and loathe. Erica Maity narrated. I have to say it was fantastic. From pacing to tone, she captured the essence of the story and helped build on the scenes and suspense. Her character voices were flawless, and she added another level of enjoyment to this thriller. A conversation at Tim Horton's (a coffee shop) begins the story of a couple looking to buy a ranch in the Chilcotin region of British Columbia. Then the landscape takes over and the first chapter becomes a beautiful description of the expanse of land. It helps to ground readers in place and introduces one of the forms of silence explored in Somewhere In-Between. This particular silence is an appreciation of the surroundings: the old-growth forest, the willow-lined creek and "a haze of coastal mountains."

Somewhere In Between - Kindle edition by Peacock, Kelly

Loved it! This book was well written, with true to life experiences of one woman reliving her past to figure out her present. The exams are finally over, the sun is shining and celebration is in the air. For twins Chloe and Alex the future looks bright, if a bit uncertain. But turbulence is not far from the horizon and begins when Alex is in a car crash on the way home from a drinking binge with friends Tender and transformative . . . The great surpriseof The In-Between is that it makes dying feel like a peaceful, dynamic, and nourishing event that can potentially transform the lives of those who are left behind. Readers will cheer on Hadley Vlahos and, like me, be forever grateful that she wrote this book.” —Christie Tate, New York Times bestselling author of Group Ocr tesseract 4.1.1 Ocr_detected_lang en Ocr_detected_lang_conf 1.0000 Ocr_detected_script Latin Ocr_detected_script_conf 0.9535 Ocr_module_version 0.0.10 Ocr_parameters -l eng Old_pallet IA-NS-2000199 Openlibrary_edition

As Magnolia and Rom escape into the in-between place - an ever-changing alternate reality - readers are swiftly drawn into their own reveries. But these aren't the ethereal, gold-trimmed dreams of youth... The story felt genuine, and the conclusion was one I figured out, but I wasn’t quite sure of the how. I will leave that for you to discover. I don't always read novels like this, when I do it is very rare. Lately all I have read was surrealism and satire. This novel kind of falls in between paranormal/ supernatural and contemporary. It's a very sweet and touching novel. Nature is a big thing, a theme. There is a whole feast of description of the beautiful land that the three main characters Julie, Ian, and Virgil Blue inhabit. The book cover is also beautiful, and I'm assuming that it is portraying the land in the book.

I imagine Julie and her family dealing with the same questions while reconnecting to one another. Julie remembers Darla singing "Galway Bay" and "Danny Boy" when she was just eight years old. For many people, the truth is stranger than fiction, and for others – well, they don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story! Dominique writes honestly and brilliantly, from the heart. Her willingness to be vulnerable and grapple openly with issues of feminism, marriage, law, ethics, and mothering makes this book a thought-provoking, brave, witty and refreshing read. In The In-Between, Vlahos recounts the most impactful experiences she’s had with the people she’s worked with—from the woman who never once questioned her faith until she was close to death, to the older man seeing visions of his late daughter, to the young patient who laments that she spent too much of her short life worrying about what others thought of her—while also sharing her own fascinating journey.I would add quite a few trigger warnings for readers: multiple rapes, suicide ideation, and self harm. This is certainly a book for mature readers only. This is for the ones who feel deeply, who find it easy to romanticize moments and people, who are coming to terms with their trauma and aching, who are learning what it really means to heal. This book is for the ones who seek comfort in words with the hope of feeling less alone.
