What I remember distinctly was that when I taught students, I struggled to find a way to keep them interested in the things they didn’t want to do. Try to emphasise that there are actually only 7 notes to learn, it’s just the same 7 notes repeated over and over so this makes it easier to remember.And their Classics series is full of exciting, inspiring, and easily manageable pieces for each level, plus they are cleanly printed and visually appealing to read.

I particularly like this book as it’s very appealing to children, its’ presentation being very bright and colourful.What I particularly like about this series is that it comes as four separate books; performance, theory, technic and piano. The author’s tried-and-tested progression covers note learning, theory, aural and composing through a. There are plenty of opportunities for improvisation and teacher accompaniments are provided for most of the songs and pieces. What I also really appreciate is that the author has made it much easier than usual for a parent to assist their child in practice, even if they are not musical or have never taken music lessons.

I find a practice chart inside their practice book, with the days of the week for a parent to tick off works well, with perhaps an agreed treat as a reward on completion.They cover later beginner up to grade 5 and offer a good alternative to the traditional materials or alongside grade exams when the pieces are getting tedious!
