About this deal

We've worn this for everything from wild swimming and camping to dog walks, and it's done a sterling job at keeping us warm and dry in all weathers, all while looking chic too. What more can you really ask for?

Another small but clever feature to look for in a robe is the addition of a set of changing holes for your hands. By not having to put your arms inside the robe, you'll have extra mobility while dressing and undressing. Decathlon is known for churning out decent basics you can rely on, but this unisex changing robe actually has a number of clever features you'd expect to see from more premium brands. There's nothing quite like the invigorating hit that comes with plunging yourself into icy cold water. And nothing quite so uncomfortable as the violent, chilblain-like shivers that set in once you get out. But you don't have to put up with the post-swim shakes to reap all the benefits of cold water swimming.Features like the elasticated cuffs (no grappling with Velcro with cold hands), large adjustable hood and borg lining keep you warm as the post-swim chills descend, plus the shell is treated with M&S' signature Stormwear technology, which offers brilliant protection against the elements.

A full zip on the front means getting it on and off is simple, plus the toggle hood means you can pull it tight to keep out windchill on those blustery days by the shore. As we're heading into winter (sigh), below we've included both cosy coat options as well as a few lighter towelling styles in case you're heading to warmer climes soon (jel), so you're ready for all seasons. Do I need a changing robe? I find them invaluable in both summer and winter as they will save your dignity when you’re changing in or out of your water-wear in public. The oversized fit allows enough room for changing, but if you want to use it purely as a coat (and why wouldn’t you?) size down.

The changing robes we've chosen here are products we truly recommend and feel are worth their price points — they can be pretty pricey, so we've made sure they're a sound investment and will last the test of time. 16 best changing robes to buy in 2023It is one size but that does seem to cater for all — it feels incredibly cosy on me at 5’4”, but it’s also being used (stolen) on the reg by my 6’2” boyfriend who relies on it to take the edge off after an ice bath. It has a softer, more forgiving structure than some other changing robes so doubles up as a great cosy coat for camping trips, dog walks, chilly pub gardens... you get the idea. First favoured by chilly surfers needing somewhere to shelter while changing out of wetsuits and rash vests, they're now also used by wild or cold water swimmers, paddle boarders and general outdoorsy folk. Their interchangeability doesn't stop there though. With these nifty little snaps, you'll be able to clip your robe to a sun lounger or chair while on holiday, gaining extra comfort for lounging wherever you and your robe go. Orca Hooded Microfibre Beach Poncho Change Robe to keep you covered up on the beach while slipping in and out of your wetsuit/swim gear. Ideal for changing at the lido, the public swim pool, at the beach and even a car park, in fact anywhere where changing facilities are limited !

Someone on Cosimac’s marketing team had their head screwed on right when they came up with the brand name — this changing robe really is incredibly cosy. Protection - Your weatherproofing needs will depend on where in the world you are and what times in the year you swim. Look out for waterproof and windproof materials to keep you toasty in inclement weather. In the summer you might be fine with just a towelling robe, but they don't offer much protection against rain. Really good, quality product. As a microfibre towel it is really absorbent, and great for coming out of the water, or showers for the camping holidays. Wear your surf poncho before and after doing your favourite watersport, on a camping trip or at an outdoor sporting event.Sleeve length: Do you plan on wearing your change robe through summer and autumn and into winter? If so, long sleeves might be the most sensible option, preferably ones with adjustable cuffs so you can seal off against any potentially freezing winds come November. Shorter sleeves meanwhile, are a better, more flexible option for those fair weather swimmers only, or for those wanting to avoid trapping any more sand than they already have. Is it a changing mat or a changing bag? And what about that cosy bamboo foot muff? This is smoc smoc’s little surprise. Bury your feet in the bamboo muff and warm up those toes as they dry!
